About...

Rachel H. Meyer obtained her Ph.D. in Educational Psychology from Temple University in 2012 with a concentration in Special Education. She earned her Master’s Degree in 2005 from John Carroll University in Community Counseling, located in University Heights, Ohio and a B.A. in Psychology from the University of Denver (2002). She has been in the field of education and counseling for over 15 years in an array of settings and locations. Rachel is an Unlicensed Psychotherapist in Colorado and is excited to be working with you in her private practice.

Rachel has worked with individuals ranging in ages11 years old through adulthood. She started her career as a Clinical Case Manager in the Denver Metro area working with adults who were suffering from dual diagnosis of severe and persistent mental health issues and substance use. Additionally, her clients included individuals who may have been homeless, criminals, or were having a hard time finding their ways.

While working on her doctorate degree, Dr. Meyer spent her time in Philadelphia as a graduate teaching assistant and adjunct faculty at several colleges in the area, including Temple University. She thoroughly enjoyed teaching at the college level, both graduate and undergraduate classes. Upon graduating she moved back to her hometown of Cleveland, Ohio and took at job at the Disability Specialist at Ursuline College in Pepper Pike, Oh. While there, she worked with students who had diagnosed disabilities, including but not limited to, Learning, ADHD, Anxiety, Autism Spectrum, Depression, Speech and Language, and Obsessive-Compulsive Disorders. She supported students and their academic success, worked with families, educated faculty and staff, familiarized herself with a multitude of laws, and presented at numerous conferences.

In 2014, Rachel moved back to Denver and began working as a School Psychologist for a Charter network, helping to open a new high school in the Five-Points area. There, she worked with students who had diagnosed disabilities, both mental health and learning, along with educating and supporting the staff and teachers, being an advocate for families and students, managed students who were also on 504 plans, dealt with behavioral issues, and much more. She developed amazing relationships with students and their families, and was able to gain the trust of individuals who may not have had others to turn to in their lives. Since leaving the chapter school, Dr. Meyer has since become the Lead School Psychologist for Colorado's K12 online school working with students in grades K-12.

Although she decided that she wanted to get back into teaching at the collegiate level, she realized that she also enjoys helping others. Therefore, it was time that Rachel begin following her passion and open her own private practice. In her spare time, Rachel enjoys being outside and exploring the beautiful state of Colorado, hanging out with her Standard Poodle Lily (who often joins her in the classroom and during counseling sessions), reading, yoga, watching college football, hanging out with her friends, and visiting her family back east in Cleveland.
